Bryce's Story
On May 1, 2008 Bryce Jenkins was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 colon cancer. He was given only 18 months to live with a possible 2% chance of surviving.Doctors have removed 24 cancerous tumors from his abdomen, 14 cancerous lymph nodes and removed a large portion of his colon. The doctors have explained that chemo would only buy us time and would not be able to cure his advanced cancer; it is imperative that we find alternative treatments.Bryce’s first round of chemo was remarkably effective and within 6 months of having received treatment his test results showed no sign of cancer. However joyous we were, the doctors said “it will come back”. Unfortunately, in just 3 months the cancer did return as predicted and is much more aggressive this time. The tumors have extended to the outside of his liver as well as other areas of his abdomen and are becoming very painful. He began the next round of chemo with some new, very effective strategies, but on the second round of treatments Bryce suffered a life threatening reaction to his chemo. At this point, he realized he may no longer continue with chemo.Miraculously, Bryce has recently been given an opportunity to participate in a new, experimental cancer treatment in Germany. With perhaps a miracle, overwhelming generosity and kind assistance, Bryce was very fortunate to be the third of only four individuals to receive this treatment by the passing of a wonderful individual who had heard about Bryce and her family offered Bryce her position. This treatment offers a new potent anticancer agent for hepatocellular carcinomas and at the same time offers a direct approach for delivering an anticancer agent to liver tumors. The agent may have widespread application as a general anticancer agent for many other tumors. Also, the agent may have widespread application in suppressing or defeating many metastatic tumors as well as suppressing certain forms of leukemia.Bryce has now traveled twice to Frankfurt, Germany and on the first treatment received what appears to have stopped or killed the main tumors in his Liver and on his left side. However, as his cancer is very aggressive and fast growing, he has been asked to step up the treatments to twice each month. To complete the treatment Bryce must return to Germany twice each month for 8 more months; and while the Doctors are donating their time and the formula, Bryce must pay the costs of airfare, hotel, and hospital fees, which are running about $8,000 each visit. As you can imagine, $16,000 each month is a tremendous expense and our family is unable manage without assistance. We of course, are determined not to let cost interfere with this miraculous opportunity to receive life saving treatment.BRYCE DESPERATELY NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!We are aware that it is a difficult time to be asking for anything but we HUMBLY ask for you to please consider donating or at the very least please help us spread the word. Please send this message to everyone you know and ask that they contribute or can help find someone willing to.Bryce is the father of four beautiful children ages 18 months, 8, 10 and 12 years old. He is also the husband to the most beautiful, strong and loving woman we know. She has sacrificed so much and taken such amazing care of Bryce, he couldn’t have a better woman at his side during this difficult time.We firmly believe this is a cure for cancer and pray it will make it past all the hurdles and get to the patients who need it.The Jenkins Family
